Based in Charlottesville, Virginia, MIRA is a vocal ensemble that focuses primarily on the rich polyphony of the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, particularly of the English and Flemish schools. MIRA also explores Medieval music, folk songs, and works by more contemporary composers such as Benjamin Britten, whose compositions reflect the style of earlier periods.
Founded in 2005 by director Raven Hunter, the ensemble has performed throughout Virginia, most notably at Historic Bruton Parish Church in Williamsburg, as well as being a featured ensemble in the Staunton Music Festival Summer Season. MIRA has also performed as a guest choir for the Evensong service at the Washington National Cathedral.
Join Mira for a beautiful evening of songs from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, as well as folk tunes seasonal songs. A great way to warm your spirit on a cold night.
